Balerno Farmers Market, Saturday 14th May

Your monthly Farmers Market returns to Balerno this Saturday, 14th May. Come down to Main Street between 9am and 1pm to enjoy a host of wonderful and diverse stallholders as well as entertainment, information and volunteering opportunities. You’ll also be able to register to take part in the first Balerno Farmers Market Scarecrow Trail which will be running 4th-10th June. Find out more about the trail and how you can get involved here

Stallholders – Saturday 14th May

Arran Cheese – a large selection of flavoured cheddared cheese and biscuits
Cedar Cottage Country Foods – sausages, pies and meats
Clarke & Brown – beautiful homewares and textile products
Edward Collins Fish – fish and seafood sourced from the North Sea and North Atlantic
Falko Konditormeister – traditional German Konditorei cakes, gâteaux, pretzels and sourdough breads
Golden Pithari – providing Greek extra virgin olive oil of gourmet quality
Harmeny Bikes – bike repairs and sales
Harmeny Veg – locally grown vegetables
Monarch Venison – breeder of red and fallow deer, providing local fresh farmed venison
New Caledonian Woodlands – homemade juices and perserves as well as handmade wooden items
Potty Perennials – a colourful variety of seasonal flower pots, plants and baskets
Scoff – traditional Scottish street food and the fantastic tattie scone wraps
Tiphereth Trading – Organic jams and chutneys as well as orders for firewood and compost deliveries
Wilsons of Musselburgh – a great choice of local, seasonal fruit and vegetables

With Alzheimers Awareness week beginning on Monday we will also be welcoming PALM to the market on Saturday. PALM is a social group café for people with dementia and their carers, they meet on the last Tuesday of each month 2.30-4pm in the St Joseph’s Centre. Come down and find out more. Balerno Pharmacy have also arranged for the Dementia Bus to sit on Main Street on Saturday morning. If you have any questions or need guidance relating to any aspect of dementia in its various stages please come and talk to someone.

Friends of Main Street will be gardening alongside the the market as always and volunteers are most welcome. Experience isn’t required, just a pair of wellies and a good attitude. You’ll find the team working hard in the flower beds at the bottom of Main Street right next to the market. All gardening tools are supplied. Come along for the whole morning or even just an hour, the Friends of Main Street would really welcome your support. All ages warmly welcomed.

This Saturday also gives you the first chance to register for the inaugural Balerno Farmers Market Scarecrow Trail. Build your own scarecrow, show him off and be included on the Scarecrow Trail map. Find out all you need to know about entering our exciting new event here.
